Rise
Park Action Group - History As a result of increasing concern about deteriorating standards relating to
crime, vandalism and cleanliness around the estate, a 1000
signature petition was assembled, and a Public Meeting of Residents, Police and Councillors was held on 14th
November 2001.
The meeting was scheduled to take place in
Rise Park Community Centre and
provision was made for a capacity attendance of 100 people. However, the
attendance took everyone by surprise and, by the
appointed time, 170 people were crowded into the hall, with more queuing
outside.
The meeting was therefore hastily reconvened in the adjacent Church on Rise
Park, which probably enjoyed its' largest congregation ever - being filled to
overflowing. The final count showed an attendance of nearly 500
residents.
As a direct result of the meeting,
31st January 2002 saw the formation of the Rise Park Action
Group
