Babbington Hall

Home

Not a stately home - but our local dog rescue centre caring for abandoned pets

Babbington Hall Rescue was established in February 1993 to provide care for stray and abandoned dogs. Unlike many rescue centres, they operate a strict ‘non destruction’ policy and currently have an average re-homing rate of more than one dog per day.

To date they have found caring owners and homes for over 5000 dogs which, through no fault of their own, came into their care.

It is understood that they are hoping to become a fully registered charity in the near future.

Babbington Hall Rescue is one of the few remaining Dog Rescue Homes in this area and, unfortunately, they have a constant stream of lost or abandoned dogs - all looking for someone to offer the love and attention they crave for and deserve

Even if you are not interested in giving a home to one of the animals, you might care to make a visit, and you are welcome to look around the kennels

No charge is made, but a voluntary donation (in cash or foodstuff) would always be welcome – however large or small.

If you are considering taking on the long term commitment of owning a dog, why not consider a "Rescue Dog" & visit them before making a purchase elsewhere. They are almost certain to have one that meets your requirements - either now or with just a short wait!

And most of them will already be ‘house trained!’

But please be aware that the cost of dog ownership will be anything from £10 per week upwards as a minimum after Pet Insurance, periodic Vets fees, Medication, and Feeding is taken into account.
You also need to consider Kennel fees if you intend to leave the dog behind whilst on holidays.

And if, as a fully caring owner, you take the animal with you - there will usually be an additional cost of £30 to £50 per week to be added to any self catering holiday price, and choice of accommodation will be limited.
And no foreign holidays to the sun!

If you are dog lover, but are unable to take on the cost and responsibility of dog ownership, you might like to volunteer some of your time in helping out at the Centre.

Volunteer dog walkers provide a welcome break and exercise in the fresh air for the animals, and help is always need for chores around the kennels, such as cleaning, feeding and just giving the animals some loving attention.

Life behind bars is not the ideal for any of these unfortunate dogs, most would  prefer a cosy fireside with a loving family!

My own dog, Scamp, was a ‘Rescue’ and has proved to be an adorable and loyal member of the family and a ‘friend for life’ – but the old adage must be repeated here “A dog is for life and not just for………..................…(you know the rest)”
