Nottingham Anglers Association - Bestwood Duck Ponds  (privately owned, and not officially a nature reserve, but a haven for wildlife) is a complex of five well established lakes in very pleasant wooded surroundings.

Around 150 'pegs' are available with fishing to cater for all tastes. Access is from Moor Road, just beyond Bestwood village, but is via locked gates and available to Members Only

The ponds are just five / six minutes drive from Rise Park by car. There is ample provision for disabled anglers, with specific parking spaces and platforms for wheelchair users.

No dogs are allowed in this area, and the site is patrolled by bailiffs who may ask for membership details

No 1 Pond. This is a general coarse lake and is noted for the large Water Lilly Beds that are home to Tench in excess of 8lbs. Also resident are Carp, Bream, Roach, Rudd, Perch, Chub, Barbel and Pike. Parking is available behind some pegs and access is very good to the rest of the pond.

No 2 Pond is the one to fish if large Carp and Pike are the main target. Roach and skimmers can be caught by anglers using maggots or casters but the majority of anglers fishing this pond do so for the Carp using specialist baits and tackle. Depths range from 3-11ft and there is a tree covered island to fish to.

No 3, 4 & 5 Ponds. These lakes contain a general mix of coarse fish and are surrounded by very comfortable pegs.

Association Membership is available and this is just one of many venues controlled by the Association. Visit their website for details. See the Web Links page (Jan 2008)
