Bramcote Hills Park and the
Hemlock Stone
are close neighbours and can easily be covered in a single visit.
Although just outside the City boundary, they are a very easy car
journey of around six or seven miles from Rise
Park. Unfortunately, more difficult by public transport.
Passing
the Bramcote Crematorium, the final destination for many local people,
on the way!
Bramcote Hills Park
contains a walled garden with a memorial to the victims of the
Holocaust, extensive woodland walks, some open parkland and a childrens play area.
The
adjacent Hemlock Stone is a massive sandstone outcrop, the stone laid
down around 200 million years ago. The stuff of legends involving
witches, druids and the devil himself!
A short climb further up Stapleford Hill will give good views over the Trent
and Erewash valleys.
