A Brief Overview of the estate, local amenities, surroundings and transport links

Shops Rise Park is served by a small parade of shops, including a Newsagent / Post Office, Betting Shop, Ladies' Hairdresser, General Store, Greengrocer, Chip Shop, Carpet store (and the Charles II Public House - now untenanted early 2007
A Tesco Extra, and Morrisons Supermarket  are both within a few minutes easy access by car or bus, as are the very popular shopping areas of Arnold, Bulwell and Hucknall. Aldi also have two stores, each within a couple of miles.

Medical facilities There is a modern Doctors Surgery and separate Dental Practice situated in the heart of the estate.
The City Hospital is on several of the direct bus routes, and the QMC (Queens Medical Centre) can also be accessed by using the Free Medilink bus service link from the City Hospital.

Nottingham City Transport Buses terminate at the shopping precinct and provide an excellent service to the surrounding shopping areas of Bulwell and Arnold and also the City centre. Many of the buses running at 10 minute intervals

A faster and more direct bus service operates from the stop on Hucknall Road at bottom of Bestwood Park Drive West, with buses terminating in the Victoria Centre bus station. These buses running to Kirkby, Sutton in Ashfield and Mansfield in the opposite direction

Nottingham Express Transit Is a new Modern Tram System, opened in March 2004 to provide express transport from nearby Moorbridge Park and Ride station to the City Centre and Midland Rail Station in one direction - and to Hucknall in the other.
Trams run at twelve minute intervals during most of the day.

Schools There are four schools serving the Estate - Rise Park Infants, Rise Park Junior, Stanstead, and  Top Valley Comprehensive. Alongside an extensive sports ground & playing field

All are immediately adjacent to one another and within a short walking distance of all parts of the estate

A new day nursery opened in late 2004 adjacent to the community centre, shopping area and bus terminus

A Public Library Is sited within the school grounds

Rise Park Community Association Operates from a small building close to the bus terminus and shopping precinct. More details on Community Association page

Ken Martin Leisure Centre With swimming pool, gymnasium and other recreational facilities, is within a three or four minute journey by car.
This facility reopened in January 2008 after being closed for a 12 month major re fit. More details on separate page.

Moorbridge Nature Reserve Managed by the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, is just a few minutes' walk from the estate,  being one of the few remaining pieces of wetland habitats within the City boundary.
A £30,000 restoration and improvement project was completed in 2006 in the hope that more local people will be encouraged to make use of this little known site.

Bulwell Common.jpg (23651 bytes) Bulwell Common and Golf Course
This 18 hole golf course, with clubhouse and golf shop is within easy walking distance of all parts of the  estate. Bulwell Common also houses a number of Football Pitches and Bowling Green. (Click picture for enlarged view)

There are Automatic Barriers to car park - exit code available from shop or clubhouse if barrier closed

This is a public car park and you do not need to be a member of the golf club to use this car park, in spite of the signs erected by the golf club.

Some interesting facts? .. The 2001 Census showed :-
The Population of Rise Park was 3730, living in 1484 dwellings -  94% of which were owner occupied
354 homes (approx 10%) were occupied by pensioners only
Of people between the ages of 16 and 74, 1457 were female and 1506 were male, a fairly equal balance !
87% of households on the estate owned one or more cars, and 66% of the working population traveled to work by this means.
17% traveled to work by bus, 4% went by shanks’ pony, with just 1.4% using pedal power.  (Information per Nottingham City Council web site)

A great meeting place for dog lovers              and their dogs!          

The Church on Rise Park was established around 1970 as a Multi Denominational Christian Church. It is now one of the oldest Ecumenical Partnerships in England

The church has its own Web Site, regularly updated, giving full details of Services, Ministers and Activities.
